Dec 19th Pitsanuloke

Writing at night this time -- a long driving day from the Kwai resort to Pitsanuloke. We did some odd things today. The best (not odd) was the kao lam. But the guide told us that they don't peel the bamboo like they used to much any more. Next Otto the tour guide stopped for us to see grilled rat. It is something they do by the rice fields because the rats get big and fat on the rice and supposedly are more tasty (we didn't try it!). He also bought 2 cobras to release for good luck/good karma. We had a cruise and lunch on a really nice river barge.

Writing the next morning -
Boy I sure cut way back on the word-volume. Stuff just got overwhelming yesterday. Just being here, the things that connect and sadness for loss of so much for so many years. One simple rest stop in the afternoon I sat under a tree and cried. This hotel is the nicest so far. Running a HOT shower for 30 minutes helped wash the day's travel away. Most of the day yesterday was on the bus. Micah and I walked to a night market. Trinket and teen clothing stuff mostly. All Thai people (not tourists). In bed by 10pm.
